Lately I’ve been in a bit of a costume funk. I think it’s because I’ve been busy with grad school and haven’t had the energy to spend on my costumes. But I haven’t been wanting to really go all out on what costumes I wear to conventions. I was actually getting disappointed that no one was noticing them.
Ugh. I can’t believe I was actually thinking that.
Recently I’ve been updating the website and I’ve been thinking about why I chose to do each costume. It reminded me why I do this: to show my love of a character or popular culture text. It’s not for others. It’s for me.
That’s gotten me thinking much more positive about the costumes I have done and the ones I’m working on. It’s going to be much more fun at conventions this year.
